Maybe you already dated a guy, either powerlifter or bodybuilder, who was in his bulking phase. If you did, then the situations described in this article will sound very familiar to you. Or you are dating a guy who is planning to bulk, then this article will be useful for you to know what to expect.
1. Going to restaurants
Don't expect him to be satisfied with a regular meal at a restaurant. He will probably bring his food in a box and inhale it in the car before entering the restaurant. The meal at the restaurant will then be just a second course on top of his prepared meal. Once you get him from restaurant you might just brush your teeth and head to the bed. Unlike your partner, who needs to protect his muscles from the overnight fast. He will be eating a food rich in casein or at least he will have a big shake before going to bed.
2. Going to the Cinema
Another common activity that your bulking partner might not enjoy is cinema. While at first sight it seems that everything should be all right, since he will be sitting and thus not losing any calories, two pitfalls might appear.
Firstly, don't plan a movie at a time he usually trains at the gym, because you will never win this battle. The gym is his second home and without his regular dose of lifting and pumping his big muscles, he won't survive.
Secondly, don't expect him to go willingly to see a movie longer than 90 minutes, because the idea of being without any food for around 90 minutes will scare him. And even if he finally agrees, he will be inhaling the content of his meal box before the movie starts and he will also probably bring at least half dozen of protein bars to refill energy so that he doesn't lose even a gram of muscle. Don't be surprised if he brings even a protein shake to the cinema. He might be washing the popcorn down with the protein shake.
3. Going to the Theater
If you think that theater will be better than cinema, better think about this idea twice.
Firstly, he probably doesn't own any suite or even a shirt that would fit his current bulked up body size. When you tell him that he can't go in his sweatpants, or sweatshorts, he will try to fit his overgrown body into his formal cloths that fit just few months ago. The result might be a little funny and dangerous. The shirt will be ripping around his round and thick arms, shoulders and a large back. The buttons on his shirt will be dangerously tight, to the point that everyone around him might be worried that they explode and hit them. The most stretched will be the buttons around his chest, which he will try to resolve by leaving the three upper buttons open. If you are a woman, at this point you might be jealous that his chest is far bigger and more prominent than yours, but not only that, his decolt is deeper too.
Another area that the buttons will be struggling to cover will be his midsection. Depending on how long he has been bulking, the stomach either recently lost its flat shape and is rounding up, if he is at the beginning, or by now he might have developed a regular belly. He was able to button the shirt up while sucking his newly developed round gut in, however, once released and especially after a meal or shake, gaps between buttons begin to appear and a look at the straining buttons is threatening. If he was able to pull his dress pants around his tree trunks, the battle is not over yet, as the biggest struggle will be to pull it over his now humongous backside. It might happen that around half of his butt cheeks will remain uncovered once he pull his pants up, because the glutes respond very well to bulking diets. If he manages to pull the pants all the way up, he will be barely able to move and he might as well struggle with buttoning the pants, as again, the newly developed midsection will be in the way.
A solution to this struggle might be choosing a short informal show, where he can dress more casually and doesn't have to worry about being without food for too long.
4. Clubbing
If you go clubbing, don't expect your bulking partner to be the king of the dancefloor. The big muscles probably don't add up to his dancing skills and he would be worried about losing muscle anyway. However, be prepared because your meatball of a partner will very easily become the center of attention for everyone around him. Everyone will want to touch his big round muscles!
5. Shopping
Do you think shopping should be a no brainer? You will quickly learn that shopping for cloths can turn into a nightmare, because none of regular size cloths will fit his bulked up frame. Your bulked up partner is also not fond of walking through the shopping mall. If you want to shop for yourself and need to entertain him, leave him at the shop with supplements. He can never be bored by checking on the new gainer and protein supplements, and can easily spend an hour in the supplements department! Finally a good place for a date!
